New-York A.D. 2102

Starting Missions

At the beginning of the campaign, Players will have toi investigate on the myserious death of an unknown painter : Jonathan Ashmore. This investigation must last three or four scenarios. The first scenario consists in having the Players know that this painter was roaming in a shady jet-set where corrupted politicians and decadent industrialists were doing horrible things. Something surprizing, but don't underline it too much is that Jonathan Ashmore was basically an agicultural engineer. Players must realize that many artworks from Jonathan Ashmore were stolen. Then, they will receive the mission to discover who stole his artwork at the end of the first scenario.

During the second scenario, they'll heard from a bronze sculpture from Jonathan Ashmore called "The Carob". They must refind it and keep it. If a curious opens it (Hope they will but don't force your Players to do that or you'll ruin the campaign) he will discover that the Carob is hollow : it's a natural carob coated with bronze. The thiefs will die without speaking but seems to have military-like fighting techniques.

In the third scenario, they will hear from the theft of a painting called "The Happy Train".  This naïve painting represents a stylized train with a smiling face and children laughing inside. If a Player is curious enough to look closer, he will realize that the teeth of the train are sharp and look like the teeth of a shark and the children inside are not laughing but shouting with terror. This details are only visible with a magnifying glass. The background of this painting is green. If a Player think about having it analyzed, they discover that this paint is of a vegetable nature (corn and wheat). If they do not, don't insist on it. The scenario to find the artwork is free. Don't forget that the thiefs won't speak and use military techniques.

In the fourth scenario, a mysterious person will give them a fragment of Jonathan Ashmore's diary. This fragment deals with Escherichia Sapiensis. This fragment insinuates that this bacteria never existed. This diary also evokes the anxiety of Jonathan Ashmore about his life and that the government hides informations to the commoners. As a comment, he'll say that he hid the proofs in his overall artwork. Then, the Players will hear from three major masterworks from Ashmore : "The Man with the Hat", "The Shouting Woman" and the "Promenade in Capharnaüm". They'll have to find them between the sixth and the fifteenth scenario. They will also discover that the chief of the PCs himself was threatening the life of Ashmore. As they discovered it, the chief will want them to quicken on the investigations. But if Players relate him that they think he's guilty, he'll try to have them killed.

The Protagonists

The Government:

To sum up, the Government is constituted pf the president and an assembly elected by indirect votes. The government is largely repressive. The sewers are forbidden to population and any offender is sentencede to death. If Players visit the sewers and are discovered by the police, the Police Force won't stop to pursue them or to kill them.

The Jet-Set

Totally decadent, the Jet-Set seems to try hiding a heavy secret and his probably responsible for the murder of Jonathan Ashmore. However, Plyares may find allies inside who try to support them discretly, but if they are discovered by the authorities, all help will stop immediately and the allies will deny knowing them.

The Extraterrestrials

Yes, there are extraterrestrials in New-York AD 2102. However, Players won't see them directly, but they may discover under the city of New-York (about 300 meters of depth) a gigantic infrastructure made in an unknowm and unalterable material. He won't be able to go inside but can discover that this spaceship (it is one!) is there since five centuries (Be careful! Discovering this is not necessary. It will happen only if Players try to invcestigate about a possible presence of extraterrestrials!). In a kind of base outside this infrastructure, they can discover powerful energy weapons but they may also find them sometimes in the surface. We'll come back on this later!

The Natives

Some pepole Players will meet are in fact Werewolves, Vampires, Gargoyles and other mythological creatures. They have only a secondary role and will be most of time hostile. Some of them may be friendly, but it will be rare and they will warn Players no to use a car or another type of motorized ground vehicle. This faction is not necessary in New-York AD 2102. You can zap it!

The Police

Armed arm of the government, their goal is to arrest criminals but Players will discover that most of the arrests are done by private detectives. The real goal of the Police is to watch the population, kill the dissidents, the curious and those who want to use motorized ground vehicles. This faction may become quickly the greatest enemy of Players.

The Army

This faction won't interact often with Players, but the Players may realize that most efforts of the army are oriented to struggle discreetly against an "inner enemy" with new and devastating weapons (infrasonic canon, high energy laser...). Players can be surprized by this, however nobody willl tell them anything about it. They may have informations by stealing datas and hacking army computers.
