Rêve de Dragon™

(The Dream of the Dragon)

This Roleplaying Game takes place in a world dreamed by a dragon. One of the main objectives of the game was to prevent the dragon from awakening, which means the destruction of the world. Players can walk through "dreams breaches"  which allow them to go into the past or into the future. The worls was oneiric and coherent but flexible enough to let the Game Master have some fancy with the players. This Roleplaying Game was also remarkable by it's lack of professions but. on the other hand, the Character may have a specific background because he might have been dreamed before by the dragon (Quiet difficult to understand!). So, a Character could have some knowledges from his previous lives. The Ruls system was based on a 100-sided dice : the Character had a numeral level of skill and the Game Master crossed it with a numeral level of difficulty. As a result, there was a percentage and the Player had to roll the dice to see if his action was successful.  Furthermore, the Character had luck during specific hours of a day. It was depending on it's birth hour. As a consequence, during this hour, the Character may find especially useful items, prevent a trap to go off because luckily, it was jammed  and so forth.

Our Opinion

Advantages :

Rêve de Dragon has got a unique world between dream and reality and introduced the luck  concept. The very flexible rule system allows a great freedom for the Players. The experience system is also very judicious because Players can feel clearly their progress.

Defects :

If the Game Master isn't totally involved in the world, the Player can be in the dream of a dragon, the game remains a simple heroic-fantasy universe because outside this fact, Characters may die, love, have children etc...
